Happy New Year 2012

I wish everyone who reads this a very happy new year. This is the first time when I am wishing a happy new year through a blog which can be considered as new inclusion in the technological development of the current era which also includes the Internet which itself is being defined nowadays with respect to the most popular social networking site Facebook. In simple terms I just wish to mention that gone are the conventional ways of wishing prosperous new year through greeting cards or a mere phone call but all has been replaced by the most powerful Internet which has resulted into different ways of dynamic festive wishes that seem much more appreciative and easier than anyone can ever imagine. New year is not the only occasion for exchanging good wishes and Internet has got the best for each occasion. I have a wish to exchange greeting cards with my near and dear ones at every occasion but don't get to fulfill this wish most of the times as these traditional ways are becoming obsolete and it seems a foolish step to take to get hold of a beautiful looking greeting card and travel all the way to the post office to stand in queues and finally say what your heart means to say when that seems just a few milliseconds away in this digital age. But if this convention still existed I bet I would have spent most of my pocket money in buying the most beautiful looking greeting card in the most expensive looking Archies store. Just a mere two years back I didn't even know what was Google and Facebook was just a very odd looking term that I had ever come across unable to come to a logical meaning of what the combination of the two unrelated words 'Face' and 'Book' can possibly have. And believe it or not YouTube was introduced to me just six months ago !!!

I don't understand why people rely on new year resolutions and repeatedly make an issue out of it when I believe that each moment we are taking resolutions and at times following them strictly and other times breaking them as usual thinking that resolutions are meant to be broken after all. Each day starts with a resolution and ends with (mental if not physical) diary entry giving us all the more reasons to fret as well as boast about trivial things done during the day. But indeed a new year comes with fresh hopes and visions of what we can possibly make the best out of the coming year and later mark it as one of the most fulfilling years of our life. So here comes 2012 and not to mention about pondering over our country's progress this year most of us are too busy worried about our own life's progress. The new year brings up good business opportunities for the astrologers with people thronging at their feet hoping to hear nothing but a remarkable future in the upcoming year and needlessly spending thousands of bucks when nobody actually knows what does the future hold for them. Mere predictions do not change our ultimate destiny but just give us superficial hopes to stay happy for the time being. I really wonder that if this astrological business is so effective so as to cause the most reluctant people also to spend a month's salary in predicting their future then why don't other people around the world are found talking about it or is it just a 'desi' Indian way of attaining temporary mental peace with the help of very decent and religious looking dhoti clad 'pandits' scattered around all hindu temples in the country. No doubt sometimes their predictions are unmistakably true but I don't find any point in making a serious investment towards what they call as their job.

New year may conjure many different images among different people but all of us are united in having the root wish of being happy in the time to come. I once learnt about a remarkable scientific fact while reading The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown that if the entire population in the world get united in thinking and meditating about the exact same thing those thought waves can even move objects or in other words they transform into a physical force. I am imagining a similar scenario during the new year eve when all of us all over the world think about happiness and the collective power of our thoughts lead to some surprising outcomes. Although this is a very hypothetical vision but it sure makes us feel united in at least one unimportant aspect.

The year 2012 will be welcomed by us with full vigor and infectious enthusiasm by partying hard and I do pray to let one thing happen -  when I read this post exactly one year later I will have enough points to complement what I am writing here and thus finally believe what the astrologers keep on ranting about all positive things that can happen to us (and thus talk of them with more respect). Once again I wish a very happy and prosperous new year 2012 to all and hope that this year brings health, wealth and plenty of blessings from The Almighty to all deserving people.

Kolaveri Di - The first picture that comes in the mind of a non - tamilian person is many coca cola bottles kept together forming a 'D' shape and a questioning look on his face asking the very obvious question 'Why this Cola very D?'. Now this may seem as a hilarious interpretation about a phrase that implies something more grave and far from being lighter than what it actually means which is nothing short of a 'murderous rage'. The Tanglish song 'Why this Kolaveri Di' is a tribute to all those guys who failed in a love affair with their girls or to simply put it those who got rejected in love. Perhaps according to the singer, his girl after rejecting him had this much rage inside her that she almost murdered him. No wonder many guys are able to relate to this song as it pertains to the general feelings of love smitten guys. Many songs have been sung in a similar tribute in the past in almost all possible languages but there is something special and demanding about this Tanglish song that has captured million of hearts all over India and surprisingly outside India as well. To look deeper into the mystery of such a song's unprecedented popularity the first thing that strikes me is it's plane simplicity. The song is so simple in its essence that it could have been written minutes before it is sung easily by not a very professional singer but a good actor like Dhanush. He has sung the song so lazily that a friend has truly remarked that any kind of dance can be combined with its lazy tunes including break dance. Far from considering the possibility of dancing to its tunes it can be heard twenty times a day without getting bored of it and relaxing yourself every time you concentrate on its uproarious lyrics.

I had no idea what the hell the song exactly meant when I first heard it and was irritated to listen to it's bizarre wordings and more so to learn about it's growing popularity in spite of the fact that me being resident in Tamil Nadu for more than four years couldn't fathom anything exciting about the Tamil base song as against rest of the non -  tamilians. I do not listen to Tamil songs mainly because of the obvious reason of not being able to understand the wordings but even then love hearing to a couple of songs including the famous 'Naka Muka'. Countless number of times I got amazed at me not being able to come to terms with the native language of my temporary residence but then finally realized everyone have their own sweet reasons for being who they are. But when it comes to Kolaveri there's nothing incomprehensible or out of this world in it's lyrics and everyone can easily make out what the singer is trying to portray. It's lyrics consists of nothing but the basic word kolaveri which has become the most popular tamil word in the country. Not only this word but singer and actor Dhanush has become a common household name as well. Now everywhere in the newspaper I can find Dhanush doing something or the other - a person who was as unknown to me days ago as any other man walking past me on the streets. This also reminds me about my proximity with the south Indian superstar Surya's place of residence which happens to be just a few blocks away from my home. But very unfortunately I still have not had the pleasure of acquiring the privilege of meeting him and have a talk or two with him. These actors are so busy and almost invisible when it comes to real life.

There is probably no secret for this song's instant popularity. It is like magic. The song was composed and released on YouTube and Poof. Instant success. Here comes luck in picture which has got nothing to do with any hard work or extensive thinking before composing the song or even delivering music to it by not-so-known young music composer Anirudhh. Some successes are destined to be so even if it is product of a random thought. And yes, there was no pre-planning and the song was just as spontaneous as any thought or idea may come into your mind. That is why I too became a fan of this song later when I just judged it based upon my belief in the mind-boggling power of sheer luck.

Dogs - A Man's Best Friends

"We long for an affection altogether ignorant of our faults. Heaven has accorded this to us in the uncritical canine attachment."  ~ George Eliot

"My goal in life is to be as good of a person my dog already thinks I am."
Doesn't this seem as the most inspirational quote. Of course it does when you look from a dog's point of view. Picture an adult dog with long brown fur, ears perked up in attention, an expectant and loving look on it's face, tail wagging from left to right furiously, taking small strides coming towards you and as soon as you lovingly stroke it's head, it bends and wriggles out of happiness and tries to get on top of you and lick your face and hands and when you talk to it and start playing with it, the dog makes little whining noise indicating that it is extremely happy to be with you and to receive your love and affection. That's how someone awed by a dog's faithfulness remarked that a dog's master is like the God or the Almighty for us to the dog. A dog considers it's master as the supreme being and considers it's faithfulness as it's only religion.

So what is it so special about dogs that we start finding solace in the company of a non verbal animal which cannot console us or encourage us by constantly sympathizing speaking words of comfort. These animals do not have any selfish intention or any other desire except constant attention and loving care from it's master. As simple as that isn't it. And then dogs miraculously take on the role of a psychiatrist and healing patients like no other medicine developed by the most advanced medical strides. They are a gift by nature to humans to remind even the meanest of us that there is softer part in us that deserves to be loved and understood.

We may at first hesitate to even touch a dog as it may bring about many complications including some infectious diseases or for that matter we may feel afraid thinking that the animal will bite or do any other nasty thing. But there is proof that those who hate dogs start loving them like a family member if they try keeping one as a pet and spend time taking care of them. That is because it is a natural thing that comes with a pet like a dog. It is highly recommended to older people to keep dogs with them as they are sure to increase their already thinning life span. Most people go for the best breed of dogs if they wish to keep them as pets. I think it is just like a caste system among dogs that people look down at street dogs as not worthy of their attention and keep the best breed dogs in the best possible comforts and constant pampering. It is very much logical to think that dogs with a good breed will behave and react in a tolerable manner so that there are no qualms about keeping them at home. But an animal lover or more specifically a dog lover can find the same companionship with any kind of dog because all dogs are after all true to their basic classification as being man's best friend. But people may not have a single and general aim of keeping their pet as a dog and for such reasons it is very much wise to consider a particular breed best suited for their purposes. But if considered from the viewpoint of a person like me I will always be ready to play with the meekest of street dogs as well. Of course there are many adoption drives scattered all over for compassionate souls to divulge in their tenderness and get a wonderful partner in the form of helpless street dogs or even cats but to keep a pet you need to be fully prepared with lots of free time and dedication to take care of it which in the beginning needs the exact care as demanded by a new born baby. I wonder when will I prepare myself to take on the responsibility of petting a dog. Among many other wishes this one is also permanently included in my daily prayers to the Almighty. It seems trivial at first but its wonderful advantages cannot be ignored.
Lastly, I would like to point out that those who think happiness cannot be bought have not gone ahead and bought a cute puppy !!

"He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.) When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another man. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have. He is just my dog."

Information Technology - My Future Builder

Everyone plans his or her actions in certain way which is very much but natural and the next natural thing that happens is it never goes exactly in that way. I am mentioning the general plight of most of us. Plans can be short term as well as long term. We may think in a certain way and appear pretty confident about what we have thought when suddenly a blow comes and changes the direction of our thoughts completely. Something similar happened with me with a result that I turned out to be an Information Technology student. When I joined this course I had no idea what was it with which I was going ahead and judging by what I have learnt till now I can say that fortunately this is a field where I would love to immerse myself in and happily give my full time and devotion.

Information Technology, as generally known by everyone, involves computers, software, hardware, networks and their management or in short every aspect of modern computing. Man's most amazing and the most brilliant invention till date is a computer and the related technologies. Many movies have been made showcasing the awesome potential of a man made machine and evidently technology is gradually progressing towards achieving that very potential which is going to revolutionize our lifestyles completely in the time to come. In just a matter of a decade technology has progressed so much that it has become literally impossible to live normal life without a computer. Most of the cell phones or smartphones that we carry today are almost a handheld computer. It is impossible to picture today's world without a computer. What I find fascinating in this is the power of the human mind that is capable to invent something that surpasses anything that a human being can do but it itself is not at all capable without a human's intervention. The world of technology is very fascinating for a person who understands the plane genius behind its existence and its powerful implications. So, to be involved with this field is a blessing in itself.

Many courses are offered in different institutions in Information Technology and Computer Science and a few lucky and talented students finally make it big and leave their unique mark in these fields for others to follow.

Information Technology is highly related to Information System. We know that Information Technology is about computers and the study of the computer technology. But who uses this technology or how a particular concept is applied in real world ? For this we have people and businesses who make use of it and the basic understanding of how this entire group of people, businesses and computers are co related to each other is what Information System is. Knowingly or unknowingly we have to ultimately enter the realm of Information System when we apply our theoretical  knowledge to practical purposes.

Going by their similarity it is natural to get confused between the fields of Computer Science and Information Technology. But the two are different when we consider the problem solving or programmatic aspect of Computer Science and application of those programs in businesses as an aspect of the latter. In my personal opinion, Computer Science is a boring subject when it comes to only programming or problem solving skills as compared to various other areas to examine in Information Technology. Nevertheless, its after all computers in the end.

I am studying Information Technology just as a regular student who finds the field fascinating but outside it has got a very high scope and there's lot to learn from the professionals.

Reading - I am born to do that.

Whenever I encounter any situation which provokes me to describe myself the first picture that comes into my mind is a book. I am a fond reader and the way certain activities or objects excite some people in a special way, I can say that I am blessed to feel the same way when it comes to books. I do not mention only the text books as I get irked when that seems to portray an image of a girl who is no good at anything but just excelling in her studies. I admit that this might be true for me but that seems to be taken for granted with respect to me. I am a human being and I thank God for letting me sustain an interest in creative activities like reading and writing and consider myself lucky to be living with this quality. But then I wonder what I would have been doing if not this. What do other girls of my age who are equally good at studies and under similar situations like mine (middle class with limited pocket money) spend their time doing ? I seriously don't have any idea as I am not in touch with any such people or even if I was given such an opportunity I failed to maintain a certain level of interest in order to sustain a suitable relationship to gain insight into their activities. So the point comes to 'interest'. I am not 'interested' in anything other than reading and writing. And to be honest while I was in my native place I was just a kid living with what who I naturally am with no idea what I had been doing or what needed to be done. The above mentioned thoughts never entered my mind and now when I do think in this way I feel as if I am sitting in a remote part of the world with no connection to what actually is happening around me and suddenly one day the door to the 'real' world will open and I will find myself wondering at what I had been missing all this time. No, I do not blame my current position because this perhaps is the best thing that I could ask for as I have done a job which is very difficult even for the strongest. But the drawback that keeps on hitting me time and again are my unanswered questions or my disability to find a way to eradicate my foolishness and be dynamic enough to find those answers right here right now.

To come back to my original point I have been and still am a fervent and avid reader and enjoy reading almost anything given to me. Reading comes naturally to me just like breathing comes naturally to everyone and I get very upset if in any way I feel any hindrance towards pursuing my favorite activity and I feel as if I am being robbed of everything I have. By hindrance I did not mean a temporary obstruction but something dangerous enough to not let me read at all. This is a fear that resides in my mind just like the fear of going bankrupt or homeless resides in a poor person's mind. I might seem to imply by this that books are equivalent to wealth to me and by sharing about my weakness about books I may invite non-scrupulous people to take advantage of my precious possession but all of this seems over-dramatic as my wealth is nothing but my passion for books and nothing can be more innocent, safe and pure than this.

I am personally waiting for that moment when I can say that a particular book has changed my perspective or my way of living forever bringing with it numerous advantages just like many people have been heard to be saying the exact words. I wonder how only a book can change how a person thinks. If that actually has to happen it has to be associated with a practical experience as it is well known that bookish knowledge does not make man well educated. Nevertheless, books do give insight into what a great personality who writes the book actually thinks and helps us to get inspired. The advantages that I have had with books are still just limited to help improve my analytic skills that come with the skills of comprehension and a little bit of addition to my vocabulary which are very much but natural skills to be acquired by this activity. But to say that a book has affected my life or the way I think is utterly out of question as still I am just a very less experienced youth who reads books as way of entertainment and relish the common joys of easily recognizable stories and nothing beyond than that. But I can predict that if at any stage of my life I do get experienced I shall surely go after a book, whether fiction or non-fiction, which helps me to shape up my ideas and perspectives according to my situation and understanding of the compliance between my life and what is implied by the written words.

Finally, I should say that I do not consider myself as the only passionate reader on this planet as there are many who have excelled in the field of reading as well as writing but I would like to enter the competition though because it will be almost equivalent to 'following where my heart leads me'. But till then I am just another person with reading as a hobby and will continue to bury myself in the most wonderful books till it's possible and consequently will never find myself alone.

Just a Beginner

Hello Friends !!!

Since long I have been searching for a way to express myself in such a way that I may share it with the world. Yes, blogging is meant for that specific purpose but I was and am still hesitant as to what it may bring about. But I have been maintaining a record of my random thoughts and wanted to give a try by joining the group of bloggers. So here I am trying my hand for the first time at blogging and want to put Internet to a better use other than Facebook. What exactly is blogging I have no idea about as I am just aware of it's basic definition and that is almost an online diary shared with the world. But to look at the larger picture a blog has many commercial uses but I am no taker for that. I do not expect any kind of publicity but I have a simple wish to join the group of bloggers and proudly declare to the society that after all I am also a blogger. While I write this I do not have any idea as to what I will after all share on the Internet but then I will wait for things to progress. So, for now this was my first blog and I wish that I continue blogging and gain something good out of it.
