Happy New Year 2012

I wish everyone who reads this a very happy new year. This is the first time when I am wishing a happy new year through a blog which can be considered as new inclusion in the technological development of the current era which also includes the Internet which itself is being defined nowadays with respect to the most popular social networking site Facebook. In simple terms I just wish to mention that gone are the conventional ways of wishing prosperous new year through greeting cards or a mere phone call but all has been replaced by the most powerful Internet which has resulted into different ways of dynamic festive wishes that seem much more appreciative and easier than anyone can ever imagine. New year is not the only occasion for exchanging good wishes and Internet has got the best for each occasion. I have a wish to exchange greeting cards with my near and dear ones at every occasion but don't get to fulfill this wish most of the times as these traditional ways are becoming obsolete and it seems a foolish step to take to get hold of a beautiful looking greeting card and travel all the way to the post office to stand in queues and finally say what your heart means to say when that seems just a few milliseconds away in this digital age. But if this convention still existed I bet I would have spent most of my pocket money in buying the most beautiful looking greeting card in the most expensive looking Archies store. Just a mere two years back I didn't even know what was Google and Facebook was just a very odd looking term that I had ever come across unable to come to a logical meaning of what the combination of the two unrelated words 'Face' and 'Book' can possibly have. And believe it or not YouTube was introduced to me just six months ago !!!

I don't understand why people rely on new year resolutions and repeatedly make an issue out of it when I believe that each moment we are taking resolutions and at times following them strictly and other times breaking them as usual thinking that resolutions are meant to be broken after all. Each day starts with a resolution and ends with (mental if not physical) diary entry giving us all the more reasons to fret as well as boast about trivial things done during the day. But indeed a new year comes with fresh hopes and visions of what we can possibly make the best out of the coming year and later mark it as one of the most fulfilling years of our life. So here comes 2012 and not to mention about pondering over our country's progress this year most of us are too busy worried about our own life's progress. The new year brings up good business opportunities for the astrologers with people thronging at their feet hoping to hear nothing but a remarkable future in the upcoming year and needlessly spending thousands of bucks when nobody actually knows what does the future hold for them. Mere predictions do not change our ultimate destiny but just give us superficial hopes to stay happy for the time being. I really wonder that if this astrological business is so effective so as to cause the most reluctant people also to spend a month's salary in predicting their future then why don't other people around the world are found talking about it or is it just a 'desi' Indian way of attaining temporary mental peace with the help of very decent and religious looking dhoti clad 'pandits' scattered around all hindu temples in the country. No doubt sometimes their predictions are unmistakably true but I don't find any point in making a serious investment towards what they call as their job.

New year may conjure many different images among different people but all of us are united in having the root wish of being happy in the time to come. I once learnt about a remarkable scientific fact while reading The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown that if the entire population in the world get united in thinking and meditating about the exact same thing those thought waves can even move objects or in other words they transform into a physical force. I am imagining a similar scenario during the new year eve when all of us all over the world think about happiness and the collective power of our thoughts lead to some surprising outcomes. Although this is a very hypothetical vision but it sure makes us feel united in at least one unimportant aspect.

The year 2012 will be welcomed by us with full vigor and infectious enthusiasm by partying hard and I do pray to let one thing happen -  when I read this post exactly one year later I will have enough points to complement what I am writing here and thus finally believe what the astrologers keep on ranting about all positive things that can happen to us (and thus talk of them with more respect). Once again I wish a very happy and prosperous new year 2012 to all and hope that this year brings health, wealth and plenty of blessings from The Almighty to all deserving people.
